Through your donations, we have partnered with the Myanmar Karen Baptist Church Association to aid families impacted by the recent earthquake in the region.  100 Families in Mandalary were provided with mosquito nets, blankets, and water.   Mandalay is the second-largest city in Myanmar.   The Karen Baptist Convention has 2,000 local churches in Myanmar.

We have worked and partnered with Karen refugees through the First Karen Baptist Church of Indianapolis for several years and worked with them to respond to offering aid to the Karen in Myanmar, who are an internally displaced ethnic group in Myanmar and have faced injustice and hardship for decades.     Through the years of hardship, the Karen people shine with hope and love through their Christian faith.

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar on March 28, 2025, caused significant damage and resulted in a death toll exceeding 3,600, with over 5,000 injuries and hundreds missing. The earthquake also impacted millions of people across a wide geographic area.

About 200 Karen Baptist Christians reside in Mandalay, Myanmar, and have founded the Mandalay Karen Baptist Church for almost five decades. The church celebrated its 40th anniversary in April 2020 in Myanmar.  Four church members were killed in the earthquake, and the church building was destroyed.

One local church leader shared,

“Although the church itself is suffering, this community of faith in Christ is dedicated to other people who are outside of their Christian congregation, especially those who are really in need.”
