We concluded our winter CARE Club called Champions over 3 months! Over 50+ refugees engaged every Thursday evening, participating in a meal, small groups, and a game.
This is our second year running Champions and engaging in SEL (social & emotional learning) small group education. Topics include:
- Empathy
- Nonverbal Communication
- Setting Goals
- Playing by the Rules
- Respect
- Presenting your best self
- Active Listening
- Being a good friend
- Having a positive attitude
Participants received a bracelet that read, “I am a Leader” after we concluded Champions!
This was said every Thursday evening, and our goal was that students would see themselves as leader, even at a young age.
“YOU BEGIN BY LEADING YOURSELF!” was what we had participants say and talk about what that means.
