Strengthening Families Through Responsible Support

Economic fragility increases vulnerability.    In light of potential hardship for families, we are establishing a special fund.

For refugee families navigating immigration uncertainty, financial instability can magnify fear, disrupt housing, interrupt employment, and destabilize children’s routines. Even small financial disruptions — a missed paycheck, delayed work authorization renewal, unexpected legal fees — can create cascading consequences.

Migros Aid’s approach to financial stability is not about dependency.
It is about structured, temporary stabilization that protects families during moments of uncertainty.

The Refugee Stability Fund

The Refugee Stability Fund exists to prevent short-term crises from becoming long-term collapse.

This fund is designed to provide:

  • Short-term rent assistance – usually not 100%

  • Utility support

  • Emergency housing stabilization

  • Limited crisis-related financial aid

All assistance is:

  • Reviewed through  organizational guidelines

  • Documented for accountability

  • Designed to be temporary

  • Focused on stabilization, not indefinite support

The purpose is simple:

To help families remain housed, secure, and steady while navigating legal or employment transitions.

Financial stabilization reduces panic and protects children from sudden disruption.

Budgeting & Financial Education

Stability is not only about emergency relief. It is also about long-term resilience.

Migros Aid encourages churches and volunteers to offer:

  • Budget planning workshops

  • Credit report education

  • Basic financial literacy training

  • Emergency savings coaching

Many refugee families are navigating:

  • New banking systems

  • Credit systems unfamiliar to them

  • Language barriers

  • Cultural differences in financial practices

Practical education builds independence and confidence.

Financial literacy is empowerment.

Employment & Job Networking Support

Employment stability is foundational.

Churches and volunteers can:

  • Connect families to job opportunities

  • Provide resume assistance

  • Conduct mock interviews

  • Offer workplace mentoring

  • Help navigate documentation renewal

Helping a refugee secure stable employment is often the most powerful long-term support available.

The Goal

The goal of financial stability is not charity alone.

It is dignity.

It is housing security.

It is preventing avoidable crises.

It is strengthening families so they can stand confidently and independently in their new community.

Economic stability lowers emotional stress.
Emotional stability strengthens families.
Strong families strengthen churches and communities.

That is the heart of Migros Aid’s vision to empower refugees to stand on their own.
