This fall a group of refugee students worked to plant and harvest nearly 1400 pumpkins on a ⅓ of an acre of land in Indianapolis.  As a result,  $3,700 was raised from selling the pumpkins to the community benefiting the work of Migros Aid in the city and another organization, Str8, where the pumpkins were grown.   The pumpkins were sold for three Sundays at Eagle Church in Whitestown.

Tom Langebartels, a long-time Migros Mentor to many, organized the project and enlisted six student workers over the summer and fall.

Tom shares, “During the summer and fall we were on site seven times, planting, weeding, harvesting, and also distributing corn that was grown in 2 apartment complexes.  We also spent three Sundays at our house eating, laughing, playing soccer, and telling stories. It was a successful project on many fronts, and I’m thankful God opened the doors for us to do it together.”
