It is amazing to think how refugee kids from Iraq, Syria, Myanmar, Congo, and Cameron are in one room together. Each of their stories could be a movie, yet they are children who have an amazing opportunity before them and need encouragement and support in a new world they are residing in.
We have seen an increase in children wanting to come to our English Club every week. Young teens are bringing their homework and inviting their friends. It is very inspiring and exciting.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” we often ask. “i want to be a teacher!” someone will say.
“I want to be a pilot,” replies a young boy from Syria.
Seeing kids playing together and developing friendships across racial and religious lines is a model perhaps for the world.
We are hoping to create more mentorship opportunities for these young people. Contact us to get involved!
