In an effort to help empower the immigrant, refugee community and at the same time allow us to reflect on our excess as consumers, we have created the Migros Store.
The store will receive donated items that are in good condition (something you would have in your home or want to wear) and be available for immigrans and refugees to come and shop and purchase items for a very small price. We plan to charge very small amount for items (even $0.10 or $0.25). We will also to provide store credit to kids who show improvement in their grades to be able to come and shop, too.
We desire to empower the immigrant community and believe if they pay a small price we move away from toxic charity of constantly giving items for free and will see a few things happen:
- Individuals will have a sense of self-respect
- Individuals will value what they get and be more likely to take care of it
- Individuals will be empowered towards self-sufficiency
Migros Mentors who work with families on a regular basis will have access to bring their families to pick out household items and clothing.
If you have items to donate, please contact us. Please make sure they are in good condition.
